Summer’s here, Hurrah!

Summer is in full swing here, and in typical New England fashion, everyone seems to be frantically trying to cram in as much as they can into these two / three months of sunshine. Fortunately or unfortunately for us, summer is Tig’s busy time at the boatyard and with his private captaining work. So summer often looks like this:

…and a little bit of this

This year V is going to horse camp at her request. Her first camp ever (sniff sniff). But in the meantime we eat ice cream almost every day, read aloud, go to the local pool, and enjoy free library programs.

I got a little chalkboard painting done.

The blueberry bushes are giving us a preview of future harvests.

The raised garden is growing…

…Well, maybe not as much as we’d like.

And in other news, we had a reunion with Hurrah. They had left for their year-long cruise last summer (they came up to Maine for a visit in August), and now, at the tail end of their adventure, circled back for another visit to Maine. V was super-excited to see her old friends again. They spent a glorious day playing, swimming and squabbling.

Tig got some lobsters for dinner. When it was time to do the deed (aka knife between the eyes), everyone watched with great interest. Cruisers are not a squeamish bunch.

Tig showed off his wok skills (the propane burner was the best gift ever Dad!) and cooked up some lobster with ginger and scallions. we also made a campfire and roasted marshmallows.

Summer sure is nice.
